Patients would have to make at least two oral requests and one written request to a physician, and physicians would have to wait 48 hours after receiving a request before writing a prescription for life-ending drugs.

“It raises questions as to what we owe the terminally ill and the elderly among us — those who are near the end of their lives and they know it,” Webber said. “What we don’t owe them is a bottle of pills to make it just a little quicker for them to leave this planet.” “The class of citizens who can be killed by another citizen,” Webber said. “We don’t have that. We call that murder for now.”
