As we’re rapidly heading into the Fourth of July weekend, there aren’t too many big live entertainment options at Southern California casinos as they’re busy gearing up for their holiday celebrations.
However, there are a few acts closing out the end of June and kicking off the start of July on these stages, including a massively popular late ’80s and early ’90s boy band, a hit-and-history-making country singer-songwriter and ’80s funk and R&B acts that are sure to make you get up and groove.New Kids on the Block
is an iconic boy band that paved the way for others like Backstreet Boys, ‘N Sync and One Direction. The group formed in Boston, Massachusetts in the mid-’80s with members Jonathan and Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Danny Wood and Donnie Wahlberg . The pop quintet went on to become one of the biggest-selling acts of the ’90s and had an official fan club, hotline and an extensive merchandise line that included everything from T-shirts and hoodies to bed sheets and dolls.
In the early days, NKOTB hit it big with songs like “Step by Step,” “You Got It ” and “Tonight.” The band broke up in 1994, but reunited in 2008 and found success again with a pair of new albums, a string of nostalgia-filled concert tours and even NKOTB-themed cruises. 8 p.m. Thursday, June 29 and Friday, June 30 at Yaamava’ Resort & Casino, 777 San Manuel Blvd., Highland.
