A big day at Wythenshawe Park with a whole host of Manchester music icons on stage and some surprise guests too
While stormy weather caused all kinds of havoc for music fans across the country, there were no such worries for New Order fans heading to their huge homecoming at Wythenshawe Park .
The penultimate support slot performance was from legendary Manchester guitarist Johnny Marr who drew the biggest crowd. While playing a mixture of his solo tunes, as well as songs from his time in Electronic and The Smiths, Marr reminisced about spending his youth at Wythenshawe Park with some choice anecdotes.
With the crowd now suitably warmed up, New Order walk onto the stage and take position. Behind them is a large screen showing footage of divers while a laser-show enhances the visual display. They launch into first track Academic, taken from 2015 release Music Complete. When Age of Consent is played the audience are singing along and the party atmosphere truly kicks in.
