The play will chart David Ervine's life from paramilitary to peace maker
A new play which charts the life of the late PUP leader, David Ervine is set to debut at the Lyric Theatre next month.
"If he hadn't have brought the Protestant working class on board, there might not have been a majority for the Agreement, that is how important he was," he said. "Watching the coverage I kept asking where is David? In terms of the working class loyalist people, he was fundamental," she said."I couldn't understand it and that is why I am so pleased that this play is being done because he was so important and relevant. I grew up in that community and I remember thinking at the time, oh my God, there is somebody who can speak progressively, articulately and for the community that I came from.
"This play will show you the personal story of David behind the headlines and how he was impacted by a personal family tragedy." "When he died prematurely in 2007, the next year I approached his brother Brian who was about to take over as PUP leader.
