"With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together," said Walt Disney Studios co-chairman and chief creative officer Alan Horn.
After Disney acquired the rights to Star Wars, including a lucrative portion of the consumer product licensing, the company has put out a total of four films for the franchise including "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", "Rogue One" and "Solo"."Solo" was the first "Star Wars" movie to lose money, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Feige has been president of Marvel since 2007, with Disney taking over the company in 2009. And he is expected to play a big part in developing Marvel superhero projects with the assets, such as the rights to "X-Men", Disney absorbed after buying 21st Century Fox in March.
