"As soon as they finished banning Trump, Twitter execs started processing new power, preparing to ban future presidents," says journalist Matt Taibbi in a long Twitter thread.
Twitter's new CEO Elon Musk has promoted a series of tweets that revealed the company's internal files that the big tech’s "activist employees, without basis, suppressed and censored" former US President Donald Trump during the days before the 2020 election. Taibbi said senior executives, who might be under pressure from federal agencies, with whom they met more as time progressed, increasingly struggled with rules, and began to speak of "violations" as pretexts to do what they would likely have done anyway.
"As soon as they finished banning Trump, Twitter execs started processing new power. They prepared to ban future presidents and White Houses – perhaps even Joe Biden. The 'new administration', says one exec, 'will not be suspended by Twitter unless absolutely necessary'," he added.
