Nick Caballero, who played for Garcia, is the new head coach at Pasadena High School
Edgar Garcia watches his campers enjoy the slip-N-slide Thursday. After six seasons as a varsity assistant for the Mavs, he's returning as head coach, a position he held for Pasadena for an entire decade.Edgar Garcia has participated in plenty of past Pasadena Memorial High School baseball camps and he's likely directed someone to get out the plastic sheet and place it in center field for the camp-ending slip-N-slide, but he's never done it with the title of head coach.
Garcia was slowly easing into the job title with this recently-completed 6-6 district campaign of the Mavs and a state tournament berth. While Garza was slowly easing into his new role, Garcia was outside routinely getting practice under way. Garcia now joins Demond Stafford as the only two to be named head coach at two separate Pasadena ISD programs. Stafford was the head football coach at Sam Rayburn, before getting the Dobie job prior to the 2022 season.
As for Pasadena, the Eagles have promoted Nick Caballero to the head coaching position. It has been a revolving door in that program as far as head coaches have been concerned ever since Garcia departed.
