Nottinghamshire County Council has urged people not to get caught out
A fresh warning has been issued to the public over a scam targeting people by claiming to be Wilko offering huge discounts on clearance stock. Nottinghamshire County Council has warned shoppers that fake websites are circulating, with scammers using adverts on social media to lure people to the scam.
It comes after the announcement that all Wilko stores will have closed by early October and its distribution centre operations will wind down this month. B&M Bargains says it would like to acquire 51 shops, though it is understood they will be totally rebranded, whilst 71 sites will now become Poundland stores.
"We would like to remind our customers that all Wilko sales are now in-store and you are unable to purchase items online." In terms of the administration process, PwC previously said: "We will continue to engage with parties who may be interested in acquiring all or part of [Wilko]. Stores will trade as normal and staff will continue to be paid while the company is in administration.
