For years, event-planner Jes Gordon threw lavish parties in cities from Los Angeles to Dubai. Then the pandemic hit, and the party was over.
Jes Gordon recently celebrated her 50th birthday dancing in a leopard-print suit at a surprise disco party in the West Village. She was renting a high-rise apartment in Hudson Yards, Manhattan’s most expensive neighborhood, and producing million-dollar weddings along with celebrations for hedge funds, media companies and consumer brands through her eponymous events company.
Then the pandemic hit, and the party stopped. Earlier this month, Ms. Gordon put her whole life in storage and moved in with her mother in Poughkeepsie.
