New Zealand pacer Matt Henry has been ruled out of the Cricket World Cup with a hamstring injury he sustained during the game against South Africa. Kyle Jamieson will take his place in the team. Henry bowled 5.3 overs against South Africa in Pune before leaving the game, and then had scans on his hamstring to determine the extent of the injury.

Henry bowled 5.3 overs against South Africa in Pune before leaving the game, and then had scans on his hamstring to determine the extent of the injury.All or nothing for defending champion England against old foe Australia at Cricket World CupJamieson had been a traveling reserve for New Zealand before he flew home. He was then called up again to join the team as Henry awaited his scan results, and will be available for the Black Caps’ game against Pakistan in Bengaluru on Saturday.

Henry took 11 wickets in seven games and joins a growing list of injured players for the Kiwis. Kane Williamson and Mark Chapman are questionable for the Pakistan game, but pacer Lockie Ferguson should be available. New Zealand has lost its last three games against India, Australia and South Africa, as it sunk to fourth in the points’ table.

After Pakistan, New Zealand plays Sri Lanka on Nov. 9, also in Bengaluru. The 2019 runners-up need to win both games to guarantee a place in the semifinals.
