Jas Athwal - newly elected to the constituency of Ilford South in north-east London - said he is 'profoundly sorry tenants have been let down' after the squalid conditions were discovered.
A Labour MP has apologised after allegedly letting out flats with issues including black mould, broken lights, and even an ant infestation.
Mr Athwal, who is the biggest landlord in the House of Commons owning 15 rental flats, said he has now met with the property management company to 'understand failures in communication'.
