Wilfried Gnonto missed two matches earlier this season as he attempted to force a transfer exit but the Italy international has since returned to action for Daniel Farke's side
Wilfried Gnonto has been warned he has a 'long way' to go before he can earn forgiveness from Leeds United fans following his attempt to force a summer exit. The Italy international was the subject of transfer interest from Everton, and refused to play in several games to try and seal a switch to Goodison Park.
Former Whites defender Jon Newsome believes Gnonto acted on 'terrible advice', and will eventually look back on the incident and 'cringe'. Newsome feels Farke and the club have handled the situation well, and reckons the 19-year-old has delivered good performances since his return to the first-team fold.He told BBC Radio Leeds via Inside Futbol: “What happened in the past has happened in the past.
“He will live with it and learn, I am sure in a few years to come, he will look back and cringe at what he did. He has got to go out and got to put those performances in and I thought he was good today.”
