Do the viral videos of NFL fans brawling in the stands say more about them or us?
now. Cut it out. Stop that. Fans, get a hold of yourselves. The rest of us can no longer get past a Sunday afternoon without seeing video clips of you brawlers throwing down in the stands. Or the concourse. Or anywhere around the premises of an NFL arena where the brutality on the field is no longer sufficient for the growing number of weekend warriors who are taking that nickname way too literally.Fans are losing their minds these days.
Or maybe you were heading for the exits at NRG Stadium this past Sunday when Texan-on-Texan violence played out as the main event following Houston’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Right there, next to a beer kiosk, fans who had spent the afternoon rooting for the same team suddenly transformed into mortal enemies and duked it out.Neither you nor I had to be there to witness these melees. All we had to do was pick up our phones or turn on our laptops and let the algorithm show us.
Take for instance the fan fight at the Commanders’ opener. Someone who was sitting a few rows up from the sluggers hit record just before punches started flying. This person captured the moment when gravity intervened, as it always does. Wannabe Ray Lewis was pointing his finger at someone one moment, then the next, losing his balance and falling forward.
