Eagles defensive end and former first-round pick Derek Barnett is reportedly seeking a trade.
Barnett, the team’s 2017 first-round pick, is heading into the final year of a two-year extension he signed in the 2022 offseason. He was initially slated to make $7.5 million this season, with $1.5 million guaranteed., and he will now make a maximum of $6 million, with $3.5 million guaranteed, along with per-game bonuses and other incentives, which could include performance-based metrics.
Barnett is also working his way back from an ACL tear he suffered in last year’s season opener against the Detroit Lions. Barnett has said he is progressing in the right direction nearly a year after the injury. “Every day, I’m trying to get more comfortable and build off of each day,” Barnett previously told NJ Advance Media. “It feels good, but I still have a lot of work to do and still have to sharpen up a lot of things. I’m not where I want to be, but I’m heading in the right direction.”
