🔴 Care home bosses have accused the NHS of trying to bypass safety protocols by asking them to accept patients with infectious diseases such as Covid as it attempts to ease the bed blocking crisis DavidParsley50 reports:
that the NHS is “taking an enormous risk” in trying to send Covid-positive patients into care homes and should “nip the practice in the bud”.
“Likewise, we’ve been asked to take patients from Covid wards that are closed to the public, but we have stood firm. We refuse to take a patient without assessing them ourselves or to risk introducing Covid into the care home.”, added that the NHS was “in danger of repeating the mistakes of the past” when patients with Covid were forced upon care homes leading to infections and deaths among existing residents.
“It’s very short-sighted NHS because they’re actually passing a problem onto social care, which could be devastating for residents.”
