Dr Einas Mohamed, 35, said she was notified by email at 1am on Wednesday morning of the flight out of Port Sudan leaving the same day – and could not get there in time. She was forced to flee the family home with her parents and three siblings when fighting intensified betweenAfter a terrifying journey to her aunt’s home in Wad Madani, she has been unable to get on to any of the evacuation flights and feels abandoned by the UK Government.: “I worked throughout the pandemic, I caught Covid three times and I didn’t see my family for eight months.
“I’m shocked. I had never expected there would be war in Sudan,” she said. “We stayed indoors for the first few days but then we could hear the gunshots were a few metres from our house, so we had to leave.”
