Dead and Buried airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Monday night
Co Armagh actor Colin Morgan has shared an insight into what audiences can expect when new BBC psychological drama Dead and Buried airs on Monday night.
As Cathy’s obsession grows, dark fantasies of revenge and reality blur as she sets out on a campaign of psychological warfare to destroy Michael’s life. Speaking at a set visit in Dublin earlier this year, Colin Morgan said that the series at its core is about trauma, happiness and unhappiness, choice, healing - or not knowing how to heal.
"That's something that gets picked through throughout the series but we see him very much operating in present day as a man who has moved on, who is living his life and freeing himself from his past.Colin describes his character Michael as living his new life with a sense of denial about what actually specifically happened and his own culpability in that.
Cathy's trauma and how it has impacted her life is a huge motivation in the series but Colin also shared that we will get to see another side of the trauma and see how someone who committed a crime deals with the consequences of their actions. He continued: "I think this idea of trauma in our part of the world is something I think we all relate to but I think it's also something universal.
"That dry kind of typically Northern Irish sort of sense of humour is so present in this, that somehow you're able to deal with a very dark situations with a sort of skipping your step and a stone in your heart and he gets that across very, very well," Colin said."And then to have a story that matches up to the dynamism of the language, that's the perfect marriage right there.
"So if you're working in another accent, you have to find what the grounded truth of that accent and who that person is because we speak how we speak because of where we're from.
