Keith Swerdlick says he noticed problem when hanging up laundry
A Derry man who discovered he had lung cancer when he was undergoing tests for motor neurone disease said he first discovered his problem when struggling to hang laundry on a clothes line.
Keith, who grew up working in his parents' ice cream parlour outside Boston before moving to Derry, praised the support he received from Hive Cancer Support - formerly known as the Pink Ladies. Amidst his Cancer diagnosis, Keith found a lifeline of encouragement through Hive Cancer Support and their support group, the Pink Panthers.
"This variant is characterised by progressive weakness and deterioration of the upper limbs. A lot of people lose the ability to talk, swallow and breathe, and I am extremely fortunate that I have not experienced these symptoms.
