A hefty bill for a notorious venue
A Burnley nightclub where violence breaks out nearly every week has cost police an estimated £1.3million pounds in callouts.
Among the string of criticisms aimed at the venue's management, Lancashire Constabulary pointed to problems including serious violence, drug dealing, and children being allowed entry and becoming victims of crime once inside. According to a licensing sergeant, the venue has played host to more police incidents than any other East Lancs venue despite only being open for relatively few hours.
According to its submission, door staff have persistently failed to used ID scanners as required which has led to under 18s being admitted and on some occasions being subjected to crime. Management are accused of "blatantly lying" about handing over records to police as well as failing to co-operate with CCTV requests.
"There are reports to police which are more minor in nature," the submission states, "however many of the incidents reported involve more serious allegation of criminality and disorder — including regular reports of violence and assault both inside and in the immediate vicinity of the premises.
