Firefighters were called at 7:37 a.m. to the blaze, which tore through a three-story apartment building on the 600 block of 23rd Street.
A fire Sunday morning damaged several apartments in a Victorian-style house, displacing nine people living there, according to the Oakland Fire Department.
Firefighters were called about 7:35 a.m. to the blaze, which happened on the 600 block of 23rd Street, according Battalion Chief Anthony Sanders of the Oakland Fire Department. The crews arrived three minutes later to find a wooden stairway in the back of the house engulfed in flames. Some of the flames also appeared to be making their way inside the house.
Nearly 40 firefighters responded to the blaze, which was brought under control shortly before 8:15 a.m., Sanders said.No one was injured in the fire, Sanders said. The American Red Cross was called to help the nine people who were displaced. The fire appears to have started someplace outside of the house, Sanders said, though the exact cause remains under investigation.
