Joe Tracini is opening up about his Borderline Personality Disorder and how it has affected his life as he discusses his symptoms and their emotional impact

Former Hollyoaks actor Joe Tracini has made a documentary about his battle with Borderline Personality Disorder - which has lead him to attempt suicide six times.. The actor, a magician and a best-selling author has filmed Me And The Voice In My Head for Channel 4.

Joe, 35, whose father is the comedian Joe Pasquale, has tried almost everything to feel better, with varying degrees of success. He finds talking about it helps. “The more I talk about how f****d up I am, the less f****d up I feel,” he says. “Which is f*****g mental.” Joe is in a new relationship now with his girlfriend Holly Houseman, who he’s been with for four years after meeting her while performing in a pantomime. It’s not easy and the pair have therapy to try to keep their relationship running smoothly. While Holly says of Joe, “He’s really caring, loving – the most selfless person I’ve ever met really,” Joe doesn’t feel the same way about himself.

In the documentary, it’s clear Joe has a lot of support from his mum Debbie, as well as his dad. He also has support from an unexpected source – Dawn French. I got a waterproof extension out of the conservatory and I stayed in there with a TV and a VHS watching The Vicar Of Dibley.”
