A police press conference yesterday revealed what Merseyside Police had so far established into the death of the teenager and what information they needed next
Investigating officers yesterday gave the first definitive information into their investigations into the gun murder of teenager Ellis Cox.
Mr Cox was with friends when he was shot Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Baker, who is head of the investigation, told the press conference Mr Cox was with friends. He said: "We know Ellis borrowed a bike to go to Southport. We believe that was his intention. We believe he got a train from Aintree train station, travelling towards Southport with friends.
Mr Cox called his mum minutes before his death DCS Baker told the press conference that Mr Cox spoke with his mum just minutes before he died. He said: "The family are absolutely devastated, as you would expect, they need answers quickly and want justice. Ellis was only 19 years old. He was on his way home when he was shot. We know this because he called and said 'mum, I'm on my way home.
Crimes scenes could get bigger DCS Baker told the press yesterday: "At the moment the investigation is in its early stages and we are trying to establish what has happened. We are checking CCTV in the area of the group cycling in and want to see where the offender or offenders travelled afterwards.
