The woman worked for the transit agency from 2007 to 2011 out of the Maplewood Bus Garage in Essex County. During her employment, she had several accidents and was on notice that she could lose her job if she had another accident, according to court documents.
“In 2009, the plaintiff was involved in another accident on the job while driving her bus and was terrified by the prospect of losing her livelihood as a result,” states the suit, filed in November 2021 in Superior Court of Essex County.
The supervisor “leveraged the coercive nature of his employee-supervisor power imbalance with the plaintiff, demanding she engage in sex acts with him,” the lawsuit claims. A spokesman for NJ Transit on Thursday declined to discuss the lawsuit, the allegations or the supervisor, saying “the agency does not comment on pending litigation.”
One male employee “forcibly kissed” the woman. A regional supervisor cupped his private area and propositioned her, the lawsuit claims. The work environment “deteriorated to the point it became untenable for the plaintiff” so she quit her job, the lawsuit states.
