'No bad blood': Pacers big Jalen Smith appreciates short stint with Suns

The NBA didn’t have a summer league that year during the COVID-19 pandemic as the draft was in November 2020, a month before the 72-game 2020-21 regular season began. During a six-game stretch from late December 2021 to early January 2022 in which the Suns were without Ayton and JaVale McGee, Smith averaged 15.6 points on 55.3% shooting and 10.1 rebounds.Showing his range, Smith shot 5-of-13 from 3, but never truly found a fit playing power forward, particularly on the defensive end. The Suns wound up trading him and a future second-round pick to Indiana to bring back Torrey Craig, who was on the 2020-21 team, right before the trade deadline.
