Officers responded to shots fired in the 5100 block of North Central Park Street, near the university’s entrance on Foster Avenue, just before 9 p.m.
Police are investigating after shots fired near Northeastern Illinois University Thursday night resulted in three suspects placed in custody and a brief lockdown of the campus. and found a dark colored SUV involved in a car accident.
In a search of the surrounding area, officers found three men matching the description of the fleeing suspects and placed them in custody, police said. The university was briefly placed on lockdown during the incident. No injuries were reported by police. Police did not say how the involved car crashed. Multiple firearms were collected from the scene, and charges are pending.
