The Met Office's aurora forecast suggests the celestial show might make an encore
The Met Office has ignited hope for another awe-inspiring viewing of the Northern Lights to light up our skies tonight and tomorrow.
"These may bring some limited enhancement to the aurora, with the slight potential of allowing for some visibility as far south as northern Scotland or similar latitudes."Coronal mass ejections, big spurts of plasma and magnetic field from the Sun's corona, have been pointed out by the Met Office, which spotted two noteworthy flares recently.
Lancaster University's physics professor, Jim Wild, spoke to The Mirror earlier this week, cautioning that the possibility of a new solar storm is on the cards. "The sun remains very active and it could fire another coronal mass ejection earthward at almost any time," he explained.
