The focus group by Field Research on behalf of the High Speed Rail Group of firms with expertise in the field came after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak wasafter another apparent U-turn on the rail links. The focus group showed the cynicism was matched by voters in Leeds, who insisted transport investment “should be the number one priority for the Government” in addressing the North-South divide.“It wasn’t surprising, but what a kick in the teeth for the North when they said HS2 wouldn’t reach Leeds,” one voter said.
