Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Nottingham Forest could pay £50million to expand the City Ground by 10,000 seats., the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed it is “now down to Forest to keep themselves in the Premier League” to green-light the project.
Owner Evangelos Marinakis had threatened to move the club out of the city to a new 50,000-seater stadium but the new agreement is now set to allow Forest to expand capacity from 29,000 to 40,000 at their historic ground. The Midlands club plan to rebuild the Peter Taylor Stand and extend the Bridgford Stand to facilitate the increase.“They’re looking at an expansion of around 10,000, so that would be £50million.
