S-NOOOOOO-W!
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Transportation and the Ohio Turnpike are preparing to clean roads this winter, with a potential test run coming this week as forecasts call for the possibility of the first flurries of the season.
The department will set out 98 trucks that cover 1,804 lane miles between Cuyahoga, Lake and Geauga counties. A total of 421 trucks will cover 10,198 lane miles over Northeast Ohio. The turnpike will have 100 snowplows to clean the 241-mile toll road, 31 toll plaza interchanges and 14 service plazas across 13 counties in northern Ohio, the agency said.
Turnpike crews handled 55 winter storms in the 2021-2022 winter season. The storms forced maintenance crews to work more than 32,000 hours to keep the road and its facilities clear of snow and ice.
