Farmington gets their first win of the season in an offensive showing over Layton
LAYTON — Two teams entered Friday night's game seeking their first win of the season, and it was Farmington that went home with the honor after a 43-21 win over Layton.
Farmington's defense then went to work and allowed only 2 yards on Layton's next possession to force a punt. And Farmington was off to the races. Early in the second quarter, the Lancers were able to get into a groove as quarterback Madden Sargent found sophomore wide receiver Teiyon Halbasch on a 34-yard pass to put the ball on Farmington's 1-yard line. On the next play, Sargent found the end zone with a 1-yard run to give the Lancers their first score of the night.
Coming out of the locker room, Farmington kept their foot on the gas. Just two minutes into the second half and three plays later, Easton Wight launched a pass downfield to Jake Metcalf for a 20-yard touchdown.
