VIDEO: A chaotic scuffle involving more than a dozen officers took place after police shot a man and an officer was allegedly stabbed on Coney Island on Thursday afternoon, according to police and footage. It's unclear what caused the confrontation.

The suspected stabber was taken into custody and the officer was hospitalized with a non-life threatening injury, an NYPD spokesperson said. A witness said they heard multiple gun shots go off outside their window, but requested anonymity for fear of police retaliation. Video taken by the witness shows two officers attempting to take an individual into custody on the sidewalk. When one of the officers calls for back-up, more than a dozen cops arrive at the scene, surrounding the man as he’s lying on the ground. At one point, one of the officers appears to kick and stomp at the individual.
