Republicans on the redistricting commission could very well end up passing a plan that would expand their Statehouse supermajorities even further. But will they?
Gov. Mike DeWine swears in members of the Ohio Redistricting Commission on Aug. 6, 2021 at the Ohio Statehouse. DeWine is set to reconvene the redistricting commission on Wednesday morning to start the process of drawing new legislative maps.
The biggest question, of course, is how the commission will alter Ohio House and Senate district lines, which plays a crucial role in determining how many Statehouse seats Republicans and Democrats will win. Congressional district lines are off the table this time after the Ohio Supreme Court dismissed a case challenging them.
