Ohio State cornerback Calvin Simpson-Hunt becomes the 17th freshman to shed his black stripe this year.
On Wednesday the 6-foot-1, 195-pound cornerback became the 17th Ohio State freshman to shed his black stripe this year. He's the first OSU player to shed his stripe since Willtrell Hartson did it on Nov. 1 and the first scholarship player to do so since Joshua Mickens on Oct. 11.Simpson-Hunt made his Ohio State debut last week in the Buckeyes' 35-16 win over Rutgers, as the Texas product contributed on multiple special teams units.
He got a late start with the strength and conditioning program as a summer enrollee, so it may have taken him some more time to adjust to the college level than the recruits who enrolled in January, such as fellow cornerback Jermaine Mathews Jr. But Simpson-Hunt has now impressed OSU enough to earn playing time on special teams and officially become part of the brotherhood.
As a recruit, Simpson-Hunt was considered the 62nd-best prospect and the eighth-best cornerback in the 2023 class. He committed to Texas Tech before eventually flipping to Ohio State.Lightning Round: Ryan Day Says Ohio State Did Not Share Michigan's Signals With Purdue Before the 2022 Big Ten Championship Game, Wants Buckeyes To Finish Season "The Right Way"What Does Ohio State's Margin of Victory Need to Be vs.
