Ohio State is reportedly finalizing a deal to name Justin Frye as its new offensive line coach.
Frye, who is regarded as one of college football’s top offensive line coaches, was previously the offensive line coach at Temple and Boston College, where he worked with Day at both schools. He comes to Ohio State with Big Ten roots, as he was a four-year starting offensive tackle at Indiana from 2003-06.
Although he was both the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at UCLA, Frye chose to leave the Bruins to return to the Midwest and reunite with Day at Ohio State, where he’ll take over offensive line coaching duties from Studrawa, who was. Frye was being paid $700,000 as UCLA’s offensive coordinator – the same amount Studrawa was paid to coach Ohio State’s offensive line in 2021 – so it’s safe to assume he’ll be in line for a raise with the Buckeyes.
Frye becomes the second new assistant coach to join Ohio State’s coaching staff this offseason, along with new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles.
