Tim Walton, who played cornerback for Ohio State from 1990-93 and was the Jacksonville Jaguars’ cornerbacks coach for the past three years, is reportedly returning to the Buckeyes.

Walton is an Ohio State grad and was a co-captain for the Big Ten champions in 1993.Walton comes to Ohio State from the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he spent the past three years coaching cornerbacks. Additionally, Walton has more than a decade of experience coaching at the collegiate level, most recently as the defensive coordinator at Memphis in 2008. He was previously spent four years at Miami as a defensive backs coach and defensive coordinator and also had coaching stints at LSU, Syracuse and Bowling Green., who was previously the cornerbacks coach at Cincinnati. He is one of three new defensive assistants joining the Buckeyes’ staff along with new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles.
Ohio State is now set to have four new assistant coaches for the 2022 season after also hiring Justin Frye as its associate head coach for offense and offensive line coach. Previous offensive line coach Greg Studrawa and secondary coach Matt Barnes are already gone from last year’s staff, and it’s expected that Walton and Eliano will replace former defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs and linebackers coach Al Washington.
Ohio State has not yet confirmed the hirings of Eliano and Walton or departures of Coombs and Washington. A native of Columbus, Georgia, Walton recorded 10 interceptions during his own career as an Ohio State cornerback and was a team captain in 1993.
