Michelle Mann FORT NOVOSEL -- A commitment to support the Home of Army Aviation “one blade of grass at a time,” was signed between the city of Enterprise and Fort Novosel in a ceremony held Monday afternoon at the Army Aviation Museum on post.
The IGSA signed Monday enables the city of Enterprise to perform grounds maintenance for Shell Army Heliport, located in the city limits of Enterprise, “to include the scheduling and performance of mowing and trimming, leaf and debris removal, hedge and shrub maintenance, and fertilization and herbicide application, and is a 10-year agreement, renewed annually.”
“Through this agreement for services at Shell Army Airfield, we can show our support of Army Aviation by ensuring that our service men and women have the best looking, manicured airfield,” Cooper said. “This agreement solidifies the relationship between the Army and our city.” McCurry noted that Shell Field is named after World War II Army aviator, Lt. John R. Shell, an Arkansas native assigned as the aviation officer with the 1st Armored Division in North Africa. “We think this intergovernmental agreement is groundbreaking and new because it’s furthering the partnership of our two communities,” McCurry said. “And we also we hope it’s as enduring as its namesake.”
