A study of 2,000 holidaymakers found more than three in 10 (32 per cent) have been on holiday abroad without insurance - but a fifth (21%) of those have been caught short
Research involving 2,000 holidaymakers revealed that over three in ten have travelled abroad without insurance, with a fifth of these individuals finding themselves in a bind.For those who ended up needing it found themselves out of pocket by an average of £1,570 each, having to cover additional hotel nights, hospital stays or medical bills according to research by loveholidays.
Al Murray, spokesperson for the online travel agent which commissioned the survey, warned: "Booking a holiday without travel insurance comes with risks, and our research indicates not all holidaymakers are aware of them." A staggering 87% believe it is important not to forget, still 20 per cent will book their holiday cover right before their trip, with 28 per cent unaware it insures you from the moment you purchase it.
Further research found that 52 per cent of people feel most adventurous when they are on holiday as such are likely to buy travel insurance when they're going on adventurous trip .
