Historical interpreter Clay Jenkinson steps into the shoes of the 28th President of the United States at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake.
What would former president Theodore Roosevelt think of Donald Trump, the war in Israel and modern-day energy resourcing? Historical interpreter Clay Jenkinson might attempt to answer those answers when he steps into the shoes of the 28th President of the United States at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake. Jenkinson will speak and perform as Theodore Roosevelt for a fundraiser for Raue Center and the Crystal Lake Library Foundation.
Jenkinson, a North Dakota native, became interested in Roosevelt because they both shared a love for the state, he said. Roosevelt traveled to North Dakota in 1883 to kill a buffalo, he said. “He fell in love with it and invested in two ranches out here,” he said. “He later said he never would’ve been president were it not for his time in The Badlands of North Dakota.” Jenkinson is the director of The Dakota Institute, where he co-hosts public radio’s “The Thomas Jefferson Hour.
