McKinney restaurateur Bill Smith takes a turn at the cooktop in 2006, when his family restaurant celebrated its 50th anniversary. When it opened in 1956, virtually all of Highway 380 was rural farmland. The restaurant looks out over a bustling Highway 380, but when it opened 66 years ago, the Smith family was told it was “too far out of town to do any business,” Bill Smith told WFAA.
