SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary One of the most brutal deaths in The Fall of the House of Usher required a consultant who worked on Planet of the Apes. In the new Netflix series from Mike Flanagan, the Haunting of Hill House creator reunites several of his frequent cast members to tell a contemporary story that's inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe.
One of the most brutal deaths among the House of Usher cast happens at the end of the third episode, as Camille L'Espanaye is mauled to death by an ape. Carla Gugino, who plays the mysterious and seemingly supernatural Verna, described how the scene was filmed in comments to Tudum by Netflix. The actor mentions working with Terry Notary, a movement quote and stunt double known for designing the ape sequences in the Planet of the Apes films.
“It was not a subtle experience. Seeing how was responding to the behavior allowed me to know that we were getting to where we needed to go with it. The Fall Of The House Of Usher Distinguishes Every Death All of Roderick's die, many horrifically, but it's not all the same. Camile, for example, when she learns that she's about to die, shrugs and says: "I got mine." She means she's had a good run and is not interested in groveling for her life. The show spares viewers from actually seeing Camile getting mauled to death.
The Fall of the House of Usher episode 5 offers another swerve. Victorine LaFourcade appears to die of her paranoia and actions, with little inference from Verna. Another line that the series draws is how deserving the Usher offspring are in terms of their fates. Victorine was willing to conduct dangerous potentially dangerous treatments on humans. Leo seems to be the most caring of Roderick's kids, relatively, but he's hardly spared.
