July 22, 2020 -- A California produce company has voluntarily recalled red, yellow and sweet yellow onions that are the suspected source of a salmonella outbreak that has sickened nearly 400 people.. The agency believes the red onion are the likely culprit but the company agreed to a larger recall because of the fears of cross contamination.on July 22, but did not know the source of the infections. Together with the FDA, the CDC's investigation now centers on Thomson International Inc.
The onions were distributed in cartons of 5, 10, 25, 40, and 50 pounds, 2, 3, 5, 10, 25 and 50-pound mesh sacks under the brand names Thomson Premium, TLC Thomson International, Tender Loving Care, El Competitor, Hartley’s Best, Onions 52, Majestic, Imperial Fresh, Kroger, Utah Onions and Food Lion., see your doctor, write down what you ate in the week before you got sick, and contact your local health department.
