Taking a break from his campaign to ward off a primary challenge from his right, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham opened the door last week to a bipartisan immigration compromise.
While unveiling a tough proposal to address the surge of migrants from Central America, the South Carolinian invited Democrats to work their own priorities into the legislation. He cited Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin’s long advocacy of a bill to give legal status to the “Dreamers”—young adults brought to the U.S. illegally as children.
