On the other hand, if a writer wants to use AI to write an essay for him or her and doesn’t want to give the credit where credit is due, that is unethical and should be discarded. Isn’t it called plagiarism? Integrity is so much more important than getting an article published.As a contributor to U-T letters to the editor I have felt privileged to have my thoughts and opinions published occasionally. It is gratifying to share these thoughts with people.
What the U-T can do is put a disclaimer in the paper stating that the opinions printed may be the work of AI, but you, nonetheless, thought they were important. Thank you for bringing this up.Yes, of course your paper ought to have a clearly stated policy. But I think it should be a permissive policy.
