I’ve been practicing medicine for 20 years, and I’ve never made a house call. But now I find myself making virtual house calls every day. I can’t perform a physical exam, study or test.
But for established patients, I can review symptoms and answer questions. I make small medication adjustments and refill prescriptions. I can tell by looking if patients are short of breath or uncomfortable, and direct them to the office or emergency department if necessary.
