Opinion: San Diego Bay is being walled off by builders [Opinion]
” : Incrementally, the San Diego Bay, which defines our entire city, is being walled off from public view by high-rise buildings, hotels and restaurants.
The last such building was the Portside Pier restaurants building near the Star of India, which is much larger and taller than the building it replaced. The latest Seaport Village proposal is another step in the wrong direction that will limit views, parking and enjoyment of the bay by local residents.
Thankfully Port of San Diego Commissioner Michael Zucchet and others have warned us of the increasing size and scope of the Seaport project. It is time the public speaks out against these megaprojects before our enjoyment of the bay is gone forever.
