Opinion: San Diego needs to put the brakes on illegal street racing [Opinion]
” : I read with interest about the rise in street racing in Scripps Ranch. What I don’t understand is why Scripps Ranch was the only place mentioned. How about racing Downtown, especially on Harbor Drive where there is constant loud racing noise from all sorts of cars and motorcycles? The louder, the better seems to be the norm. And this goes on day and night with no police ever in the area.
Just put one police officer at Harbor Drive and Kettner Boulevard, especially on the weekends, and the officer’s ticket book would soon become empty. Complaints have been called into the Police Department with no action.I’d like to point out that Friars Road has become an Interstate Highway with cars travelling well above the speed limit. We could use some police presence there as well.
