And while, as a small business owner, I am thankful for the work that lawmakers in Houston and Washington undertook to help keep our operation and others like mine afloat during the pandemic, these past few years have underscored the need to modernize the policies and programs of the U.S. Small Business Administration.

recently released by Goldman Sachs’ 10,000 Small Business Voices and the Bipartisan Policy Center found that too many small business owners are struggling to retain workers and to offer competitive benefits, and are unable to afford employee retirement plans. We need help addressing these issues sensibly and effectively. It’s been more than 20 years since Congress reauthorized the SBA; since then, there’s been a revolution in how we conduct business.
