The original Denver location where the Quiznos sandwich chain was born is now in the hands of the city for unpaid taxes.
At the corner of 13th Avenue and Grant Street, a sign still declares the location as its first since 1981. But a handwritten note in the window reads, “Closed until further notice,” with an apology.
That leaves the sole Quiznos open within the city as the location at 4640 N. Pecos St. The chain’s other restaurants in Denver are listed as temporarily closed on Google, including the ones at 3535 Quebec St. and at 4505 Peoria St. At the front window, Prime Management taped up a poster marketing the Grant Street space as available. Spokesperson Blake Kahlich declined to comment for the story, as did property representatives on the scene around 2 p.m. Monday.The Quiznos corporate office is at 4700 S. Syracuse St. in Denver, according to its website.
