An Oswego man was sentenced to life in prison for killing two Aurora men outside a restaurant and bar in the city in 2017.
of the 100 block of Eisenhower Lane, was convicted of shooting Jermaine Taylor, 35, and Anselmo Fernandez, 57, to death as they were leaving La Flama de Oro in the 700 block of South Lincoln Avenue in Aurora.
Around 1 a.m. March 10, 2017, as the bar was closing, Castellanos approached Taylor as he was about to get into a vehicle after leaving the business, officials said. Castellanos fired a single shot from a handgun, striking Taylor in the torso, according to officials. Castellanos then ran east on Simms Street and as he ran, he turned and fired eight more shots in the direction of the business as customers were leaving. A bullet struck Fernandez, who was standing outside the door, officials said.
During the shooting outside, a 37-year-old man was also struck in the face with a bullet, causing permanent injury to one of his eyes, according to officials. Castellanos was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
