I basically don’t take it into account at all because it’s been meaningless for decades.”, said she was concerned that switching focus to increasing the state pension Christmas bonus will take attention away from calls to reverse the removal of universal winter fuel payments.
“I’m already looking at my broadband costs, looking at everything, looking at all my outgoings,” she said. “Even today I’m thinking what if it’s going to be cold, and I’m going to have to put the heating up and have it on for longer. It’s just all juggling.”Ms Wilkins said she expects paying for her winter energy bills to be “more of a struggle” than it would have been otherwise.
